Abstract

In 1904, a grand piano is delivered tonumber 60 Shelbourne Road in Dublin andit was carried up to the second floor whichoverlooked Beggars Bush Barracks, whoseseasoned stone was no less weathered at thebeginning of the last century. This pianowas ordered from Piggott’s of Grafton Streetby one who was destined for greatnessalthoughhis fame would not be securedthrough the keys of a piano, but throughthe strokes of a pen.
